AMS-IX (Amsterdam Internet Exchange) is a neutral, independent and distributed Internet Exchange. AMS-IX interconnects more than 800 IP networks, making it one of the largest Internet Exchanges in the world. AMS-IX builds its services around a state of the art MPLS/VPLS network, switching close to 5.5 Tbit/s at peak times. In order to support the large number of high bandwidth ports at which customers connect, AMS-IX always uses the latest developments in hardware and gives leading input to manufacturers for the development of next generation equipment.AMS-IX deploys three other Internet Exchanges abroad: AMS-IX Hong Kong in the Asia Pacific region, AMS-IX Caribbean in Curaçao and AMS-IX India in Mumbai. AMS-IX’s subsidiary AMS-IX USA Inc. deploys AMS-IX Chicago and AMS-IX Bay Area in the United States.The AMS-IX office, located in the heart of Amsterdam, consists of an international staff of about 55 people in various functions. We are an informal group of people that are passionate about adopting new technologies, developing new markets and having fun while doing so.

Function

We are looking for a Customer-oriented Service Representative on a temporary basis.  A Customer Service Representative is a liaison and processes customers’ orders, provides products and services information and resolves with accuracy and efficiency any emerging questions or issues that our customers might face. 

We expect the Customer Service Representative to enthusiastically help and communicate to customers, be patient and empathetic. They can put themselves in customers’ shoes. They have a problem-solving ability. The aim is to ensure excellent service, respond quickly and efficiently to customer inquiries and warrant high customer satisfaction.

Currently the team consists of 4 team members. The team is part of a Commercial team (consisting of Sales, Product Development, Marketing and PR, Regulatory Affairs) reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer. English is the language of business within the company.

Responsibilities

  • First point of contact for (non-technical) requests and issues for customers and partners who are subject matter experts in the domain of peering services
  • Processing customers’ orders for AMS-IX products and services and replying to non-technical questions
  • Contract management
  • Close cooperation with technical teams to assist customers with technical related issues
  • Reporting issues on the customer portal and ensuring their resolution in cooperation with technical and software development teams
  • Communication regarding orders and requests to other departments - e.g. (international) Sales, Finance, Marketing, etc.

Skills and Requirements

  • You have at least 2 years working experience in a similar position
  • You have the ability to communicate fluently in English (both spoken and written)
  • You have excellent communications and good interpersonal skills
  • You are pro-active, flexible and you can work in a team
  • You have an excellent attention for details and you are service minded
  • You are a quick learner
  • You can start as soon as possible
  • You are available for the duration of 6 months
  • You can preferably work 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. 6-8 hours per day, 5 days a week is also acceptable
