AMS-IX

01 December 2024

On the evening of Sunday, December 1st, AMS-IX set a new internet traffic record, reaching 14 terabits per second. This new record highlights the growing demand for internet connectivity as digital activities such as remote work, online shopping, streaming, and online gaming continue to surge worldwide. AMS-IX plays a vital role in facilitating seamless data exchange, supporting the evolving digital economy, and ensuring reliable connectivity for millions of users across the globe.

14 Terabit per second

14 terabits per second is an incredible amount of data traffic.

To put it into perspective, that’s equivalent to:

  • 70 million people playing Minecraft at the same time, or
  • 60 million people playing Fortnite simultaneously, or
  • 560,000 people streaming 4K videos at once, or
  • 7.5 million people watching TikTok videos simultaneously.
